As I was ironing my tablecloth this morning (yes, Heaven forbid a crease or slight wrinkle showed!), I had a funny thought. I thought, here I am putting all of this effort into ironing this and gravy will probably spill on the darn thing. Then I thought, if my guests focus on a crease in the tablecloth, well let them admire the great folding job I did. And, if gravy spills on it, so be it. It will be a good test to see if the "stain proof" claim on the package really works.
There are more important things to worry about. We need to stop sweating the small stuff and focus on what really matters and that is time spent with family and loved ones. None of us are perfect, not one. No family is perfect but if it's YOUR family; then they are your family for a reason.
After all, God knitted us in our mother's womb and knew us before anybody else did. Pretty amazing when you think about it. So if you're waiting for your family to be that picture-perfect family like the Waltons, you'll be waiting a long time! If you don't know who the Waltons are, then you're probably too young to be reading this - just kidding.
So this Thanksgiving, I give thanks for the family God blessed me with.
I am thankful that I am well and able enough to prepare my home for the holiday, cook a good meal and have people that I truly care about gathered around my table.
Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless!
