In 2013, the ebook version was listed in the Apple iBookstore.
And just this week, the book was listed on Amazon.com!
Oh yes, a small fish swimming in a BIG pond but still exciting nonetheless.
It may not be on the New York Times Bestseller's list but as a dear friend of mine reminded me recently, that wasn't the intent or mission of the book. The mission was to provide encouragement and hope for those facing challenges. So if the book encourages even just one person, the mission was accomplished.
Surprisingly, the publication of "Rise and Shine" provided me with a fresh perspective as well. People responded to the book differently than I anticipated. Those individuals that I thought would be excited about the book - well, eh-hem, didn't seem to share my enthusiasm. The book became sort of like the "elephant in the living room" with some.
Let's pretend it doesn't exist and let's never speak about it again.
This was a bit disheartening since these people "know me" and
this was my story straight from the heart.
On the other hand, I was quite taken back by the overwhelming positive response from others of whom I didn't really expect such a reaction.
They embraced the book. They spread the news about the book
with their friends and loved ones. Some even brought copies as gifts for others. They got to know me better by reading the book and it touched their hearts. I know they are smiling as they read this.
But that's life. Different books for different folks.
Either way, "Rise and Shine" (and me) will continue to let this little light shine in the big pond. Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!
